We use the Sneak Peek Clinical early gender DNA detection test starting at 6 weeks in the pregnancy. You will come into the Next GEN office, and an on-site certified and trained professional will collect the sample. Your blood will then be overnighted to the Sneak Peek Lab in California for processing. The laboratory offers the fastest turnaround times in the industry; a 1-2 day turnaround. The results will be sent to an email and/or phone number of your choice. The test can be packaged with a same-day ultrasound session to view your baby and provide images that you can take home. However, you must be at least 8 weeks to have the ultrasound.
The at Sneak Peek at home test does not offer the same accuracy and results as the Clinical version. When performing your own at home test, the chance for contamination is extremely high; meaning if you have ANY male DNA in your home there is a high possibility of contamination during the sample collection. If contamination happens, your results could come back as boy, although you may be having a girl. At Next GE, we have trained and certified professionals who know how to avoid contamination. We also have a dedicated room to perform the blood draw where no males are allowed. Therefore, there is ZERO chance of contamination.
We will drop your sample off for you at a specific Fed Ex location that guarantees overnight shipping. When the sample arrives to the lab, Sneak Peek prioritizes the Clinical sample, meaning you receive the results faster than if you did the at home kit.
In a natural process during pregnancy, fetal cells pass into the mother’s bloodstream from the placenta. As these cells break down, fetal DNA is released into the mother’s own circulatory system. Sneak Peek utilizes this shared fetal DNA circulating inside the mother’s bloodstream. The PCR technology has the ability to detect the presence or absence of male Y chromosome in the blood sample. If a Y chromosome is detected, then the baby’s gender is male, if it is not detected, then the baby’s gender is female.
For twins, if the result comes back female, both babies are girls, if it comes back male, we only know for sure that one baby is a boy. The sex of the other baby would need to be determined through ultrasound at 14 weeks.
Under the conditions of the test being performed in a sterile environment, the accuracy rate at our facility is 100%. Sneak Peek performed a blinded multi-center study in 2015 at four independent clinical sites to assess the performance of the Prenatal Gender Test. Venous blood samples were collected from women between 6 and 22 weeks gestation. The Prenatal Gender Test correctly identified fetal sex in all samples. Fetal sex for all samples was unknown prior to genetic testing and was confirmed via ultrasound at the end of the study. The tests yielded 99.9% accuracy for fetal sex identification.
On the day of your appointment, you will fill out an online form through SneakPeek's website. On this form you will provide an email and/or phone number to where you want the results sent. If you are having a gender reveal party you can have the results sent to a friend. The results come directly from Sneak Peek. Sometimes the results will show up in your junk mail.
Please DO NOT contact Next GEN about your results, they will be sent directly from Sneak Peek Clinical to the email address or phone number you provided them.
