No, unfortunately there are no insurance companies that cover elective, non-medical ultrasound. However, we do accept HSA and Flex spending cards.
We highly recommend that you have had at least a phone appointment with either your doctor or a nurse to establish care and an accurate due date. We need to have a contact to call if we see something concerning during the ultrasound since we cannot legally tell you. If you do not have a doctor, and we need you to have a follow up medical ultrasound, we will refer you to the closest emergency room.
If you have not been told by your doctor how far along you are we recommend using this online due date calculator CLICK HERE
However, please note that this estimation can be off by 2-4 weeks since it is assuming you ovulated on the 15th day or your cycle, and all women ovulate at different times. The most accurate way to know your due date is by ultrasound, blood test, or checking the HCG levels through a urine sample.
If you have miscalculated your due date and are not far enough along to see your baby during the appointment, we do not offer refunds or bring backs. The earliest we can see a baby with transabdominal ultrasound is 8 weeks.
If your baby is not cooperating during the scan and we cannot get at least the number of photos that come in your package we will reschedule you for a free bring back appointment. The rescheduled date and time will be at the discretion and recommendation of the ultrasound technician based on several factors. In rare cases where we believe we won't be able to get better photos at a future date, we may offer a partial refund.
If your baby is breech at the appointment, we will reschedule the bring back at 36 weeks.
You will need to drink 60-80 ounces of water daily, for the week leading up to your appointment. This will ensure there is an adequate amount of fluid in the amniotic sac, which allows us to get clear photos. If you are over 13 weeks, you can have an empty bladder for the appointment.
We also recommend having something sweet to eat or drink 30 minutes before the appointment to ensure baby is awake and active. We do not recommend having a large meal beforehand, as this tends to make the baby fall asleep.
No, we do not offer any type of medical ultrasound and cannot comment on the health of the baby. We also cannot do dating after 13 weeks or provide estimates on weight.
Yes! We encourage bringing family and friends and children of all ages to the appointment. We do not have a guest limit and our facility can comfortably accommodate large groups.
By law, we cannot tell you during the ultrasound if we see something medically concerning. We will call your doctor and let them know or refer you to the closest emergency room. We will notify you that we are contacting your doctor.
No. This is a non-medical ultrasound and therefore no referral is needed. However, we do encourage you to tell your doctor you are coming in.
No. We only offer transabdominal ultrasound, which is why it is extremely important you do not come in until you are at least 8 weeks.
Yes. If you are having a gender reveal party we can shut off the screens in the room when we look for gender and put it in an envelope for you.
Extensive studies for over 30 years have found that ultrasound has not been shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the United States. In 3D/4D scanning exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D Ultrasound both utilizes sound waves to look inside the body. The technology is similar to radar. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D ultrasound will be similar to a conventional scan in terms of exposure.
